Our commitment to Hawke’s Bay doesn’t stop at grassroots. We’re building real, elite pathways for young players to grow, compete, and lead.
Big Barrel Hawks
Hawks LABS
Hawks LABS are elite three-day training camps for the Bay’s most promising young basketballers.
Hawks LABS work to bring out the best in our local talent.
Launched in 2024, the LABS focus on high-performance skill development and personal growth. Players train with some of the best in the game — including Tall Blacks assistant coaches Michael Fitchett and Daryle Cartwright, alongside Hawks staff Sam Gruggen, Kaine Hokianga, Aidan Daly, and Chris Treacher.
They return to their schools and rep teams sharper, more confident, and ready to raise the bar across the region.
Total Energies Hawks Sky Broadband
Rapid League
The Sky Broadband Rapid League is a fast-paced curtain-raiser before every NBL game — and for the Hawks, it’s a critical development platform.
We don’t stack our Rapid League squad with imports. We back our own. Hawke’s Bay talent gets real minutes, under real pressure, in a pro-level environment with the support they need to grow.
It’s already working. Napier Boys’ High School’s national success? Five of their athletes were part of our wider squad.
Whether it’s a school visit or a championship push, we’re lifting the game in Te Matau-a-Māui.
