EZRAH EAGLE JOINS THE HAWKE’S BAY HAWKS FOR 2025 SEASON

The Hawke’s Bay Hawks are thrilled to announce the signing of exciting young talent Ezrah Eagle for the 2025 Sal’s NBL season.

A proud product of Hawke’s Bay, Eagle returns home after attending Dilworth School in Auckland, where he excelled both academically and athletically. The 18-year-old power forward, standing at 6’4” (190 cm), was named Sportsman of the Year in 2024 and served as Deputy Prefect. He captained the school’s senior basketball team and gained international experience representing the Junior Tall Blacks that competed in the FIBA U18 Asia Cup in Amman, Jordan.

In 2024, Eagle signed with the Auckland Tuatara for the Sal’s NBL season, where he showcased his talent at a high level. His experience with the Tuatara, combined with his leadership qualities, makes him a valuable addition to the Hawks’ forward rotation.

Hawks General Manager Jarrod Kenny expressed excitement about adding Eagle to the squad. “Ezrah is a special player, he’s a smart team first player that puts his body on the line everyday! We are delighted to welcome him home and back to the Hawks. He has shown tremendous growth and potential, and we believe his leadership will make an immediate impact this season.”

Hawks Head Coach Sam Gruggen also shared his enthusiasm about Eagle joining the team. “Ezrah is a fantastic young player with a great attitude and a strong work ethic. His IQ and energy will be a great asset for us, and I’m looking forward to working with him as he continues to develop his game,” said Gruggen.

“I’m incredibly excited to return home and play for the Hawks,” said Eagle. “Growing up, I always dreamed of representing my region, and now to have the opportunity to do so at this level is an honor. I’m ready to give my all for the team and the fans.”

With a reputation for his leadership, communication and work ethic, Eagle is expected to provide valuable depth and energy to the Hawks’ forward rotation.

The 2025 season is shaping up to be an exciting campaign for the Hawks, and the addition of Eagle is another step toward building a competitive and high-energy team. Fans can look forward to seeing him in action when the season tips off in March.

Eagle now joins Clifton Bush, Jacob Murphy and Jackson Ball on the 2025 Hawks Squad.
